Re: How to reclaim your humanity
There always has to be a way back.
Some of you are now publicly regretting your decision to support the fascist degradation of our government and society.
Step one in reclaiming your dignity is a simple one: Admit that you knew what they were going to do, but…
…you thought he wouldn’t hurt white people. Working people. People like you.
Why you thought a debt billionaire and con artist, and the undead cannibal suits financing him cared about whether they hurt you is a mystery for another time.
But first, admit that you knew that his cabal would hurt people, but you thought they wouldn’t hurt you. You thought they considered you one of them. Why? Because you’re white, working, Christian, straight.
You forgot that the rich and ambitious don’t consider anyone “one of them.” Race, religion, sexual orientation, all of that is what the small folk care about. They care about money, power and privilege. You don’t have it, you don’t matter.
Maybe you don’t believe that there’s a war going on between you and the people who own everything you see. But the rich believe there’s a war. And they’re winning it.
So throw away your red cap, your flags, your yard signs. Stop listening to those who seek to inflame rather than inform. You don’t have to publicly beat your breast in front of a reporter, or make an apology video. Just sit and think for awhile about what truly makes a country great. It takes care of its people. It looks after its children. It shelters its elderly and the vulnerable.
Above all, admit to yourself that you didn’t care if they hurt people who don’t look like you, talk like you, live like you, and love like you. Confront that part of yourself and realize how easy it is for demagogues to manipulate bigotry in order to exploit the very people they claim to be representing, and resolve to do better.
Then, do better.
This is a good memo...and I hope that Trumpetoons and MAGAts do see the light, renounce their pasts, and make positive contributions to getting rid of the Bloated Yam and improving society.
But I expect that the bulk of them are too far gone to save.
After Germany was conquered, the leader of the British Union of Fascists, Sir Oswald Mosley, was shown photographs of Dachau, Auschwitz, and Belsen. He dismissed them as "Allied propaganda" and called the Nuremberg proceedings "show trials." He never repented.
On the other hand, Tiger Knowles, facing the blue juice for lynching Michael Donald on the orders of the United Klans of America in 1981, faced Donald's family in court and apologized to them for his misdeeds, saying, "If I could trade places with your son, I would." So maybe there is hope.
Some will get it. I hope.
