That 'relief' is most likely a threadbare illusion. They may experience it as a fleeting symptom of their inability to face difficulties.
Those people who believe they long for that kind of chained control will find the yoke excruciating to carry, their bellies longing for food, their constant anxiety swelling in the barrage of threats and losses with far more excessive demands.
Greed and power are never sated.
Maintaining liberty and a sense of freedom is not for the weak-willed.

Agree. Living in the gray is hard work, but that’s where we must be. It is so simply to hate. It removes the burden of uncertainty. I have a feeling my batting average may be lower than I want to believe, too.
