Just so. Change requires something of you. It requires decisions. It may require you to resist pressure to conform, or to be "consistent." Acceptance is passive. You will always be "allowed" to do as you're told.

The "impractical" solution should be stated to be, at minimum, the starting point for negotiation towards the future goal.
